Spending an afternoon with a flower is really an amazing experience for a ‘budding’ artist. Every day is a new day and a new opportunity for nature to spring something new on us. Without fail, nature always delivers.
I love to grow roses, and I have several miniature rose bushes that I’m growing on my porch. Today I saw this little tiny red blossom peek out of it’s sepals, and decided to take a photo of it with my phone before it fully blossomed. This would give me time to use it as a reference so I could really study it.
First I did a detailed of it, but later I wanted to add some quick splashes of watercolor right over the sketch. I am so glad I did this. I got to know this pretty flower on a one on one basis and learn all there was to know about it before it finished it’s life cycle. What a great day! Nature is the gift that keeps on giving.
