This workshop is unique because it covers a variety of subjects that you see everyday but thought they were too hard to record quickly in watercolor. You’ll learn to play fast and loose with a brush and use your artist eyes to see simple shapes and capture the essence, charm, and humor of Mother Nature’s treasures.
• Students of all levels can easily follow along.
• Each of the 5 subject areas features a variety of species.
• Learn how to make a page more interesting with design and text.
• Add fun with different calligraphy and creative borders.
Please be sure to check your e-mail purchase receipt for file attachments containing your materials and supply list, and any handouts provided with this workshop DVD.
Diana Hollingsworth Gessler started her career as a graphic designer in NYC and amused herself by keeping illustrated journals. Algonquin Books loved the charming format of the journals and the idea of traveling through an artist’s eyes. So a series of author-illustrated travel books was born: Very California, Very Charleston, Very New Orleans, and Very Washington DC. Another book, The Sampoerna Legacy, was privately commissioned by a Chinese family to document their 100-year-old history. Diana is now recreating that same history in a series of 7 children’s books for the Sampoerna Family. Her Artful Gathering Retreat Workshops include Fantasy Journaling in Charleston, Fantasy Journaling in Yucatán: ¡Vaya Maya!, and Fantasy Journal with Mother Nature. Available now on DVD.
Diana is also a fine artist whose oils and watercolors have been represented by Shaw Gallery, Naples FL since 1993. “Traveling and teaching The Art of Illustrated Journaling, makes me feel I’ve bundled all my acquired talents into a neat package that I can share with others. I’m confident that, through this gift, I’ve been able to change creative lives,” says Diana. www.DianaGessler.com
